Challenges
Understanding market-specifics requirements
Industry jargon
Rules and Regulations
Legacy
The Process
I have been working in partnership with a UX manager on this project.
1.Strategy
In order to fully capture the brief, I usually ask a set of questions, such as:
What is the company’s strategy?
What triggered the current project?
What is the scope of the project?
What has been done before? Any failure? Any success?
Who do we target? Why?
What are your expectations?
Any quantitative / qualitative data available?
Etc. ..
2. Research
We first proceeded to make an assessment of the current situation in order to understand the users’ contexts, needs and expectations along with their current processes, by conducting:
- Interviews
- Contextual enquiries
3. Analysis
Once we understood each functions, we mapped out their processes to identify potential risks, opportunities and redundancies, to then work on Process Optimisation.
4. Design
I first built a Wizard for surveyors to collect data.
A platform for the administrators to manage the data collection.
An access for the management to inform them and empower them to make better decisions.
Back to Research & Analysis - Time for usability testing
I recruited 14 employees and booked a room for the sessions. I then wrote interview questions, script and tasks.
I then monitored the session and documented the findings.
5. Delivery
After learning from the users and iterating on the design, we could now build an MVP.
